![]() ![]() PS C:\> Gwmi win32_Pagefilesetting | Select Name, InitialSize, MaximumSize May need to reboot the system after setting the pagefile. Once you run the above command and check the pagefile settings, it will be customized on C Drive. $pagefileset = Get-WmiObject Win32_pagefilesetting First, we will set the pagefile on C Drive. Here we have already the pagefile on the C: while on the E: there is no pagefile set. The pagefile in the below image by providing Initial and Maximum size using PowerShell. So once the above code is executed, other fields will be enabled. $pagefile.AutomaticManagedPagefile = $false $pagefile = Get-WmiObject Win32_ComputerSystem -EnableAllPrivileges In GUI that boxĬan be unchecked in Virtual memory settings.Ĭode to uncheck the above box. First, when Pagefile isĪutomatically managed, we can’t modify the settings so we need to remove that box. The point, from this post - Enlarge Recovery a bit, get Recovery updated with this powershell script, and then reduce Recovery down a bit if that size isn't used.To change the pagefile settings, we will divide this into multiple sections. Maybe it's something with permissions too. If I made it 2GB so there's plenty of space for Recovery update, after that I would still want to shrink it back down. It sounds like it's possible to blow it away and create a new one from scratch, but I want to figure out this issue. Maybe I need to boot off something else to safely resize Recovery.Īnd yes, I do want to keep Recovery. I was using the C: OS, running Windows while doing this. Something must be changing, but it's like the files really disappeared (even though they're all there when I just /disable and /enable it). I don't understand why reagentc.exe /setreimage /path \?\GLOBALROOT\device\harddisk0\partition4\RecoveryWindowsRE doesn't work after I touch (resize) Recovery. ![]() I want to resize Recovery and still have reagentc.exe /enable. Everything disappears from there when I /disable reagentc.exe. ![]() It seems really odd when I can use reagentc.exe /enable and that works but pointing it with reagentc.exe /setreimage /path \?\GLOBALROOT\device\harddisk0\partition4\RecoveryWindowsRE doesn't work, even though that is where the files are. It appears I could move Recovery and manually point the reimage path at it, but if I resize the partition, that doesn't work anymore. I still can't manually point it at E:\Recovery\WindowsRE either. ![]() It doesn't matter if I give the Recovery partition a letter name. reagentc.exe /enable usually does work, and even shows that exact same \?\GLOBALROOT\device\harddisk0\Recovery\WindowsRE path. Oddly, even when I don't do anything to the Recovery partition, using reagentc.exe /setreimage /path \?\GLOBALROOT\device\harddisk0\partition4\Recovery\WindowsRE does not work. That does resize it, but then reagentc.exe /enable doesn't work. I tried using the Minitool Partition Wizard. Diskpart won't resize it because it's the Recovery partition. In the past, I've moved the Recovery partition and reagentc.exe with the \?\GLOBALROOT path works. I see comments about resizing the Recovery partition, so I was going to try that. I ran the powershell script from here, but it errors out. I want to resize my Recovery (fresh Win10 or Win11 22h2 install) partition. I made this post yesterday but it's probably not going anywhere. ![]()
